60-minute singing bowl relaxation session for a group.

60-minute group singing bowl relaxation session.

This group-based Peter Hess singing bowl relaxation session, sometimes also referred to as a ‘sound bath’, takes place within the shelter of the log walls of the Old School’s hall. The calming, candlelit yoga studio is dimmed, yoga mats are laid out on the floor, and, in cooler weather, angora wool mats are provided. Everything you need – including cushions, blankets, eye masks and bolsters – is provided by Rauha, so that you can truly come as you are.

Sound waves travel through the air to those present, promoting holistic relaxation of the body. The high-quality singing bowls, with their harmonics, produce aesthetically beautiful sounds and are a delightful experience in their own right. During the relaxation session, you are simply allowed to be; no one demands anything of you, the pressure to perform is left behind, and you can rest amidst the beautiful sounds.

The bowls we use at Rauha are ethically produced, and no child labour, for example, has been used in their manufacture. We are sound bowl practitioners trained in the Peter Hess method, whose core principles are responsibility, sensitivity and attuning to the client’s state. The method involves no religious or other spiritual influences. The hand-hammered, unique bowls and gongs are of high quality and have been tuned to their own specific frequencies to precisely match their intended use.

It is advisable to wear comfortable, flexible clothing for the Wanhan Koulun Rauha relaxation sessions; layering is recommended, and woollen socks are often a good addition. You may also wish to bring your own water bottle.

Approximately 6–20 people can take part in the ‘Wanhan Koulun Rauha’ relaxation sessions at the same time.
