The surroundings and natural environment of Rauha
Wanhan Koulun Rauha, formerly known as the old Pelkola School, is situated in Hattula, in the heart of Häme, on a half-hectare plot. The sheltered courtyard offers a pleasant setting for relaxing. Behind the building lies an orchard, over which a huge, old oak tree looms.
The ice hockey rink next to the car park is owned by the local council but is freely available to our guests for various sports (including pickleball) and ice skating. About 400 metres away is the village’s swimming spot, which features a small sandy beach, a jetty and a changing room. Lake Lehijärvi opens out onto Pelkola; in winter, walking on the ice and, if conditions allow, a ski trail circling the lake offer pleasant outdoor activities. Fields dot the rural village, and you can go for walks of varying lengths along the roads and field paths. A rest for the mind, soul and body!
